Where can I find help online?

If you are looking for federal assistance programs, your city or state website is a good place to start. However, if you are looking for free help and resources that are not tied to the government, findhelp.org is a great resource. You can choose a language on the bottom left corner of the website to get information in your language.

What kind of resources can I find?

On findhelp.org, you can find:

  • Food assistance
  • Help paying bills
  • Temporary shelter
  • Transportation help
  • Goods for your baby
  • Healthcare
  • Adoption and foster support
  • Legal aid

There is so much more you can find on this website including a very broad list of financial assistance.

Can I find help in any city and any state?

Yes! On findhelp.org, you can enter your zip code and find a list of organizations and resources closest to your location. The website even allows you to switch your language to Spanish. If you need help finding resources, here are some step-by-step instructions on how to find them.

How do I contact these organizations?

Once you discover the list of resources and organizations in your area, you will find contact information for these organizations such as phone numbers, physical addresses, and email addresses.

If you want to speak with someone one-on-one that can help you get access to these resources, you will see a pop-up window to speak to someone at 2-1-1. You can also dial 2-1-1 at any time with questions.

Can I receive help from multiple organizations at the same time?

Yes! Please get all the help you need. In most cases, there shouldn’t be restrictions on the amount of assistance you can and should receive, but check with the organization you are receiving help from first.  Also, most (if not all) of these resources should be available to you regardless of your citizenship status and will not affect your citizenship journey.
