So, what is Obamacare?
Well, there are many myths about Obamacare. Let’s eliminate a few of them. First, Obamacare is not free health insurance. Also, it’s not government provided healthcare. Obamacare is a law called the Affordable Care Act, sometimes referred to as the ACA.
The goal of the law is to make health insurance more accessible. Since it is a law, practically everyone in the US is required to have health insurance. If you don’t get covered by the deadline, you may have to pay a government tax penalty.
With Obamacare, insurance companies can no longer increase your insurance rates or decline you for coverage because of your medical history.
Obamacare may also offer you assistance to help pay for your health coverage. This depends on how much money you make and how big your family is.
Obamacare has many moving parts and impacts everyone differently.
